All the emotions, a true roller coaster. 😂 this is a mysterious, twisty romantasy with a snarky and funny FMC, a mysterious and broody MMC, lots of dangerous secrets, political intrigue, found family and a slowwwww burn romance. I loved Arden, she’s snarky and smart with lots of witty remarks. She’s stubborn but also determined. Bishop? Oh *swoons* he is unreadable at first but intriguing all the same! The tension, yearning, the push and pull between them… Yeah gimme all of it!!! 🤤 The world building was very unique, the twists kept catching me off guard, and the ending? The Winged Games by Sophie Kim has been a favorite read of mine so it deserved a spot on my shelves. What better way than to add a special edition?! 🤤 Tropes: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, found family, fake dating, grumpy x sunshine, slow burn, winged creatures and sports romantasy. If you’re like me and you love Fourth Wing, The Hu If you’re like me and you love Fourth Wing, The Hunger Games and Dire Bound… you’ll eat up Empire Of Flame And Thorns 😮‍💨 Add a MMC with a personality like Xaden, Stark and Rhys (including the wings!!!!!)…. Yeah I have a new favorite series AND a new book boyfriend. Some of my favorite elements/tropes: deadly trials, enemies to lovers, dragon shifters, yearning + tension, fae, protective MMC, stubborn FMC, and again WINGS 🦇 I have no words. In the Veins of the Drowning is a 5-star read for In the Veins of the Drowning is a 5-star read for me ⭐️ The writing is beautiful, pace is perfect, tension is tensioning and the YEARNING… oooof 😮‍💨 so good! I was so exciting to finally continue with book 2, In the Wake of the Ruined, after the cliffhanger ending of book 1! I even reread book 1 in preparation. For In the Wake of the Ruined to be not what I was expecting. 😭 the writing is still really good and the plot/storyline had so much potential… but there were quite a few things that didn’t fully work for me and I’m SO SAD. If you’re curious, you can find my full review on Goodreads. It was just disappointing, the pace was a bit off in the middle, some characters were a bit underdeveloped or under-explored… the book is about Sirens but we haven’t come across a single living Siren in the sea, for example. I do love Theo though, he’s the king of yearning. 🤤 I still had fun and was curious while reading, but the payoff was not as I expected sadly. 🤧 Have you ever had this before?
