If you’re like me and you love Fourth Wing, The Hunger Games and Dire Bound… you’ll eat up Empire Of Flame And Thorns 😮‍💨

Add a MMC with a personality like Xaden, Stark and Rhys (including the wings!!!!!)…. Yeah I have a new favorite series AND a new book boyfriend.

Some of my favorite elements/tropes: deadly trials, enemies to lovers, dragon shifters, yearning + tension, fae, protective MMC, stubborn FMC, and again WINGS 🦇

I have no words. This is a 6-star read ⭐️ @marionblackwood wow you did THAT! You have gained a new fan for sure.

I’m already halfway through book 2, ordered book 3 immediately too. And I have zero regrets!!

In the Veins of the Drowning is a 5-star read for me ⭐️

The writing is beautiful, pace is perfect, tension is tensioning and the YEARNING… oooof 😮‍💨 so good!

I was so exciting to finally continue with book 2, In the Wake of the Ruined, after the cliffhanger ending of book 1! I even reread book 1 in preparation.

For In the Wake of the Ruined to be not what I was expecting. 😭 the writing is still really good and the plot/storyline had so much potential… but there were quite a few things that didn’t fully work for me and I’m SO SAD.

If you’re curious, you can find my full review on Goodreads. It was just disappointing, the pace was a bit off in the middle, some characters were a bit underdeveloped or under-explored… the book is about Sirens but we haven’t come across a single living Siren in the sea, for example. I do love Theo though, he’s the king of yearning. 🤤

I still had fun and was curious while reading, but the payoff was not as I expected sadly. 🤧

Because WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! 😭

Somehow you took everything I loved about The Silversmith and made it even more heartbreaking, more romantic, and more impossible to put down.

I fear you’ve created an addiction.

This ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star masterpiece is coming out on September 8th!

Thank you to @ljclaren, @secondskybooks, and @netgalley for the ARC! Getting to experience this story before release was so special, and you can bet I’ll be buying a physical copy because this series deserves a permanent place on my shelf!

A little late, but here's my monthly reading wrap-up for June ☀️

Looking back, I can confidently say that June contained a lot of books I really enjoyed!

The Winged Game by @sophiekimwrites, Meet Cute Magic by @authormorganelizabeth, and The Chronicles of Crofea Series by @amanda.allen.author have all earned a spot on my all-time favorites list. 🤎

Basically the only letdown was Starside... which I shared more about in two posts back (if you're curious why!).

I've been reading a lot of ARCs lately, and I've loved every minute of it. But this month, I also want to spend more time with the books already waiting on my shelves. I'm aiming for a better balance! 📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Starside

This was one of my most anticipated fantasy reads of the year, and while I did enjoy the adventure, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations…

The world, magic, gods, dragons, and overall story had so much potential, and the fast pace definitely kept me turning the pages. I just found myself wishing for deeper character development, stronger worldbuilding, and a little more time to let some of the storylines breathe.

Overall, a fun read with lots of exciting ideas, but one that left me wanting a bit more.

I have to admit that When The Moon Hatched wasn’t directly a favorite of mine. 😳

I think I gave it 3 stars. But I want to give it another chance SO I got the second book which just came out and am planning to reread the first book before going into this one.

I really want to love these books as much as you guys do so I’m hoping I just wasn’t in the right mood last time reading. 😅

I bought a Kindle even though I already own a Kobo

I bought a Kindle even though I already own a Kobo… so did I completely waste my money? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Short answer: no, I didn’t. there’s a BUT though….

The main reason I bought a Kindle was for ARCs. A lot of the books I receive are only available through Kindle, which meant reading on my phone or iPad. Not exactly my favorite reading experience.

I was also curious which ereader I’d actually prefer.

Now, this isn’t a completely fair comparison. 😂 My Kindle is a secondhand 2019 model, while my Kobo Libra is much newer.

Even so, a few things surprised me.

The Kindle is smaller and faster than I expected. But when it comes to the actual reading experience, Kobo still wins for me. It’s more comfortable to hold, easier to read on, and offers a lot more customization.

Where Kindle wins? Book availability.

I mainly read in English, and Kindle simply has more options available through subscriptions and new releases. So basically, my dream ereader is a Kobo with a Kindle library. 😂

Looking back, I’m glad I bought a second ereader. Being able to read all my ARCs on an ereader instead of a phone screen has already made it worth it.

So for now, I’m officially Team Both I guess!
