Quick Take
My Review Of Meet Cute Magic By Morgan Elizabeth
Meet Cute Magic was my very first introduction to magical realism, and I have to say—I completely understand the appeal now. I loved how Morgan Elizabeth blended magic into an otherwise familiar world. It never felt over-the-top or complicated. Instead, it was like our own world sprinkled with just enough magic to make everything feel a little more enchanting.
And honestly? This has “fall comfort read” written all over it.
The cozy atmosphere immediately pulled me in, and I found myself falling in love with both the magical town of Heartwood Hollow and its quirky cast of characters. Rosie and Jack were an absolute joy to follow. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic was filled with plenty of banter, chemistry, and sweet moments, and I couldn’t help but root for them from the very beginning.
As a book lover, I also have to admit that a bookstore owner falling for the owner of a gaming shop might just be one of my favorite pairings ever. It’s such a fun combination, and it gave the story an extra layer of charm that felt incredibly relatable.
Rosie is sunshine personified—the kind of character I wish I could be—while I found myself relating much more to Jack’s quieter, introverted personality.
The supporting cast deserves some love too. Jack’s grandfather completely stole every scene he appeared in, and Percy the cat added exactly the kind of cozy, lighthearted energy this story needed. Together, they made the world feel warm, welcoming, and full of personality.
I also really enjoyed the central quest to break Rosie’s family curse. It gave the romance a natural sense of purpose without ever overshadowing the relationship itself. Everything worked together to create a story that was easy to sink into, making it the perfect palate cleanser after several heavier fantasy books.
That doesn’t mean the book was completely without flaws. The opening chapters took a little while to find their rhythm, and there were moments where long internal thoughts interrupted conversations enough that I briefly forgot what the characters were originally talking about.
The overall storyline is also fairly predictable, but honestly, that’s rarely something that bothers me in romance. Sometimes predictability is exactly what makes a cozy romance so comforting.
Should You Read It?
I think you’ll really enjoy Meet Cute Magic if you love:
- Cozy, small-town settings
- Enemies-to-lovers romance
- Witches, ghosts, and magical realism
- Bookstores and gaming shops
- Charming side characters (and scene-stealing cats!)
- Sweet romance with just the right hint of spice
If you’re looking for an action-packed fantasy with intricate worldbuilding, this probably isn’t the right fit. But if you want a warm, whimsical romance that leaves you smiling from beginning to end, I think this is a fantastic choice—especially during the fall months.
I’m already looking forward to returning to Heartwood Hollow and exploring more of its magical world in the upcoming books.
